10 Easy & Achievable Environmental Tips
By Alex Heness
1. In your shower/s, replace normal shower heads with water-saver shower heads. Outdoors, replace the normal nozzle on your garden hose with a trigger operated nozzle. This regulates how much water you use when washing the car or watering the garden.
2. Stick a mini hour glass (2 min) with a suction cap anywhere inside your shower to time your showers. Aim to take four minutes per shower (1 turn of the hour glass).
3. Turn the water off (don’t let it run) while brushing your teeth.
4. Have solar energy installed for your home (My family is in the process of having these panels installed).
5. Turn power switches off at the power point after when not being used.
6. When possible let your hair dry naturally after bring washed, or wait until it is half-dry before using a hair dryer. This not only reduces energy usage but is also better for your hair!
7. Get involved in Clean-up Australia Day.
8. Participate in National Walk to Work Day.
9. Try walking instead of driving to close destinations or whenever this is possible.
10. Replace normal light bulbs with energy-saver bulbs in your home. This will save you money as well as reducing energy use!
